Future with no TV ads… Is that possible?11 Aug
Not in the near future. Nevertheless, big changes are on the way. We’ve been telling this for at least a year know, and finally somebody, Slate.com, that is, heard us: TV will have less and less ads and they are going to be much cheaper. Why? Because big advertisers cannot reach the same amount of eyeballs as they used to.
Everything is not as much about the price, as it is about the value. The value of running ultra-expensive ads on prime time TV becomes more and more questionable. The networks will get less money from advertising, as will big advertising agencies. How do you bill a client for a blurb you wrote on Craigslist that worked 10x better than 100K dollars piece of advertising on a local TV station?
On the other hand, we should not forget that 21st century is about time managing and knowledge. It makes sense for a medium business owners to spend 3 times less for services that deliver their message promptly and effectively than to waste time and money trying to figure out what works and what not by themselves. In any event, bi TV networks seem to be in trouble.
